A diuretic is any substance that increases the rate of formation and secretion of urine by the kidneys.
Many common substances have diuretic action, including water, herbs teas, fruit juices, glucose, coffee, cola and alcohol. Decreased excretion of water and electrolyte by the kidneys leads to
edema (an increase in extracellular body fluid). Congestive heart failure is one of the most dangerous causes of edema. Other causes include poor lymphatic drainage, inflammation and proteindeficient blood. Edema can be treated with substances which serve as natural diuretics.

K&B includes some of these in herbal form. Some work directly upon the kidneys themselves, while others operate by inhibiting salt reabsorption in body tissues. K&B is also a potent urinary
disinfectant where low grades of infection may exist. It helps to reduce the amount of sodium in the system, thereby proving to be considerably useful to those suffering from hypertension.
